It’s good to be a Porsche owner.
Naturally, the justification for this statement can and should be made in a multitude of ways – the purity of the drive, the exceptionalism of the service, the rich history of the brand, and so on – but today we’re focusing on one specific characteristic: value retention.
According to the renowned Canadian Black Book Best Retained Value Awards, Porsche is once again at the top of the pack for 2020, with multiple vehicles including the Porsche Panamera and Porsche Macan taking top scores in their segments, and the company itself winning the ‘Overall Brand Award’ in the luxury category, an accolade it has earned every year since 2017.

New vehicle depreciation is a simple fact of life. Regardless of where, when or how you purchase a vehicle, it will almost always lose value over time. What does change from brand to brand and model to model, however, is how much value it loses.
To this end, the Canadian Black Book (CBB) runs an annual assessment of which cars, trucks and SUVs retain the largest amount of their original MSRP after four years, analyzing data on vehicles across 23 different segments. CBB also gives out three annual ‘Overall Brand Awards’ to those brands that guard the most value across their entire product lineup.
For the 2020 roundup, CBB named the Porsche Macan as the top value-holder in the compact luxury crossover/SUV category, while, for the sixth year running, the Porsche Panamera took top honours in the premium luxury car segment.
“The Porsche brand strives for excellence in all categories, always,” says Francesco Policaro, General Manager of Porsche Centre Oakville and CEO of the Policaro Group. “That the company has again received multiple nods from the Canadian Black Book is testament to Porsche’s continued commitment to its cars and those who drive them.”
