Policaro Motorsport is firing up the engines and an exciting new team for the IMSA 2018 Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama. This season, Policaro Motorsport efforts will be supported by the experts SCB Racing (a division of SportsCarBoutique), seating Jeff Kingsley and Nelson Mason behind the wheels of two 2018 Porsche GT3 Cup cars.
The dealer group, which operates the award-winning Porsche Centre Oakville, will look to build on their winning motorsport history that includes the 2017 24 Hours of Daytona Championship, the 2016 IMSA North American Driver Champion and 2016 Platinum Drive Champion (both won by Daniel Morad), the 2016 Gold Class Champion in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama USA (Michael de Quesada) and the 2015 Platinum Cup Team Championship.
“We are proud to support Porsche Cars Canada and the GT3 Cup Challenge. Racing is embedded in the Porsche brand DNA and is a passion for our group,” says Francesco Policaro, CEO of the Policaro Group. “This is the pinnacle of our customer racing program, and SCB Racing fielded a Policaro Motosport BMW M235iR driven by Kingsley in the 2017 Canadian Touring Car Championship last year with much success, so we’re looking forward to what we can get done this season.”
Now in its 8th season of competition, SCB Racing will manage Policaro Motorsport’s entries, working with 19-year-old Kingsley, who is hot off multiple wins in SCB Racing’s Touring Car division last year, and lifelong racer and engineering student, Nelson Mason.
“The pieces are in place for a big season,” says Ilker Starck, owner of SportsCarBoutique. “We’ve got our sights set on the championship and can’t wait to battle in the corners to earn it!”
The six-weekend Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama kicks off at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring on March 14th.
